How to Open BMW E92 M3 Tow Hook Cover

Oceanside Motorsports • October 17, 2023

The BMW E92 M3 , a high-performance sports car that is a component of the BMW 3 Series, is renowned for its potent engine and superb handling. The E92 M3’s tow hook cover serves both practical and decorative purposes. It contributes to the car’s sleek and aggressive image while concealing the front tow hook attachment point, which is necessary for emergency towing or track use. The tow hook cover, which was expertly made to blend in with the car’s design, is a useful addition that enhances the E92 M3’s overall athletic and dynamic appearance and captures the soul of this legendary vehicle.

To open the tow hook cover on an E92 BMW M3, you’ll need to follow these steps:

 1. Locate the Tow Hook Cover

Typically, the tow hook cover is situated on the front and rear bumpers, next to the fog lights, and slightly to the passenger side. It is a small, circular panel that is frequently made of a different material or color than the bumper as a whole.

 2. Insert the Tool

Push the top of the tow hook cover gently. As the cover begins to peel out, gently apply pressure and work your way around the edge.

 3. Remove the Cover

Pull off the lid slowly after it starts to pop out. You don’t want to shatter it, so be careful not to use too much force.

 4. Access the Tow Hook Mount

You should now be able to access the tow hook mount after removing the tow hook cover. The tow hook can then be screwed in if you need to utilize it for towing.

 5. Reinstall the Cover

You can reinstall the cover after you’ve used the tow hook all the way. Press it back into position after properly aligning it until it snaps or clicks shut.

Please note that the exact method may vary slightly depending on the year and model of your E92 BMW M3, so it’s always a good idea to consult your owner’s manual for specific instructions and illustrations related to your vehicle. Additionally, be careful not to apply too much force when opening the cover to avoid causing any damage to the cover or the bumper.
